 Certificate Authority

So you are trying to log into WebMail or the HelpDesk and you get a screen that looks like this:

Goodness... That sounds scary!  Its really not.  Since we do not have thousands of dollars in our budget to purchase a "Security Certificate" from a company like VeriSign we have generated our own certificate.  The problem that Internet Explorer (IE) sees with our site is that VeriSign and companies like it are already loaded as "Trusted Certificate Authorities", and sadly Family Resource Agency does not come pre-loaded in IE... But we can be added.

Follow this steps (These instructions are made for IE 7; Click "Help" and then "About Internet Explorer" to see what version you are using):

First, In Type in the URL that is circled in red below.  You will need to either print this page out first, or open another window of IE to keep these instructions open.

Once the "Index of /HelpDesk Cert" opens, click on certnew-HelpDesk.p7b and then click on "Open" on the "File Download" window.

You should now see the "Certificates" window like the picture below.  Click on the [+] on the left side to expand out the tree so you can see the Certificates folder and click on the folder.  You should then see "TN-WinPrime" in the right window.  Right Click on "TN-WinPrime" and click "Open".

You should now see a window like the one below.  Click on "Install Certificate..."

You should now see the "Import Wizard".

You will need to click on "Next" twice till you come to the windows that asked if you want to Finish the install. Click on "Finish".

You should see:

Click "Yes" and you should get a notice that the import was successful.

You can close out of the windows that are still open.  Now when you go back into IE and go to WebMail you should no longer get the scary message.
